Finding the Right Electrician when Setting up Energy in Your New Home

Moving into a new home can be stressful. Figuring out which energy supplier to subscribe to is part of the long list of things to do when moving into your new home.  Some people choose to stay with the same supplier and some decide to change. Either way, you will need an electrician to set up everything in your new home.

Why do I need someone trustworthy for setting up gas and electricity in a new build?

It is mandatory for the electrician you pick to be trustworthy and reliable. Switch Plan gives you few reasons why:

  • wiring your house correctly is a tough job that requires a lot of experience
  • a lot of electricians of trainees or interns who are not yet qualified
  • letting someone inside your house is not something to take lightly
  • it is mandatory for an electrician to be properly trained in order to do their job correctly and not put a family in danger in an unsafe home

It is very important to aim for an electrician working for a company that already has a strong client base. You can find this out easily by going on the company website during your research.  You don’t want to take lightly this part of the moving process. Must people that are being asked how their move went often state that they wish they had paid more attention to their energy supplier offer and to the electrician that set up their electrical systems. It all starts by finding the right company to do the job. This comes by doing a thorough analysis of the companies on the market. Switch Plan can help you figure out what you need to look for at first.

What to look for and how to look for it

The first thing you need to be paying attention to is the content.

Is it clear and concisely written the services that they offer?

How many services do they offer?

By answering these two questions you can already know whether or not they have been in business for a while or if they just got started.

Do they offer a guarantee?

You know a company will be professional and serious when they offer a guarantee after their service.

It should be a year long guarantee to say the least.

Do they offer an advisor?

Some companies will just offer to send someone to your place and not follow through. You should stay away from those. It is important to have someone to talk to about your expectations for your new home and have someone ready to answer any of your questions before, during and after the installation.

You will have a better understanding of the quality of the company once you speak to an advisor and get a sense of their professionalism.

You should also check the opinions of previous clients to get a better idea of the quality of their service but also of their after sales service.

The after sale service is not something to take lightly as more often than not, people find themselves worried about something in their installation (often for no reason) but still need to be reassured.

The reassuring part is also part of the job for an electrician and should also be part of the company’s mission.
